Two Frogs in the Milk

This is the story of two frogs. One frog was fat and the other skinny. One day, while searching for food, they inadvertently jumped into a vat of milk. They couldn’t get out, as the sides were too slippery, so they were just swimming around.

The fat frog said to the skinny frog, “Brother frog, there’s no use paddling any longer. We’re just going to drown, so we might as well give up.” The skinny frog replied, “Hold on brother, keep paddling. Somebody will get us out.” And they continued paddling for hours.

After a while, the fat frog said, “Brother frog, there’s no use. I’m becoming very tired now. I’m just going to stop paddling and drown. It’s Sunday and nobody’s working. We’re doomed. There’s no possible way out of here.” But the skinny frog said, “Keep trying. Keep paddling. Something will happen, keep paddling.” Another couple of hours passed.

The fat frog said, “I can’t go on any longer. There’s no sense in doing it because we’re going to drown anyway. What’s the use?” And the fat frog stopped. He gave up. And he drowned in the milk. But the skinny frog kept on paddling.

Ten minutes later, the skinny frog felt something solid beneath his feet. He had churned the milk into butter and he hopped out of the vat.

work-life balance — • Being Mortal by Atul Gawande • “Our ultimate...

Is this book about philosophical tidbits presented by the doctor in relation with mortality? The answer isn’t feasible for all except that it fits into the spectrum of palliative and geriatric care in today’s world. Atul’s description of assisted living communities is provocative and informative. I sincerely resonate some of the elderly tantrums, sufferings and piercing to imagine their stands. When being a doctor himself would find hardships on the care of the elderly then nothing is asserted for the common people. This statement from the book is mesmerizing – “As our time winds down, we all seek comfort in simple pleasures-companionship, everyday routines, the taste of good food, the warmth of sunlight on our faces. We become less interested in the rewards of achieving and accumulating and more interested in the rewards of simple being. And we have a deep need to identify purposes outside ourselves that make living feel meaningful and worthwhile.” Hope it steer the same way to all.

Each step carries a whole weight,

Not even once earth has complained.

Journeys come and go on time,

Within a span actions are done.

Duration change in perspectives of life,

what is now might alter later.

Reaching is all one cares about,

thus leaving the encounter at stake.

Focus on lesson for an adventure,

see yourself to understand its gift.

New Life

While walking in the aisle at Barnes and noble shop near downtown New York, an aura like feel dragged to open a book called “The Bhagavad Gita” by Jack Hawley. In spite of raised in an Orthodox environment, never attempted to refer them in detail. There was this particular incidence when studying in class 5, a Bhagavad Gita competition was announced which made me to just enter and leave the room seeing the huge crowd of other competitors. Scaring was dominant at that time and mind got diverted into other areas.

It happened that while staying at uncle’s place in abroad, his passion towards this spiritual text has opened a channel of thoughts. He was introduced to this text by his teacher in high school who also was a vivid reader of these verses. So it was through him I tasted these quotes. But ended up slipping away through Samsara (Material World) angle of life. However, I do not recollect what made me to read the English translations, but it mesmerized the life like a trance. Since then I started to collect Bhagavad Gita books from various authors and be thankful to have a few precious of it.

Some banter about life experiences as if readily available for quoting ”Life is full of adventuresome”. Similarly, every successful person will have an inspiration ranging from interpersonal characters to famous personalities. It is through them we get nourished. But there are others who regret about not getting the desired goals and are blended with destiny. Here comes the divine song of god chanted by the godly figure in the verses, thus shining us with the right and contend way of living.

“If asked what change did these texts brought?”

Would say nothing except the reactions to the situations are handled better. Perceptions of totality brought a reflection process that in depth opened a clear understanding towards life. Am filled with intellectual desire (Kama) to buy these books and hoping to get the text assimilated in me rather being an academic theorist.

“Life is what we make and break out of it”
