The life of geriatrics is expressed with witty humor and inspires many down the road through the story of Hendrik who happens to be 83 1/4 years old. He resides in a retirement home and his affinity with the small group of mates is worth the read. Although he was a loner at start slowly transforms into soulful and his helping hands is filled with touche moments. Especially the name of their club ‘old but not dead’ evokes a necessary change of mood at the emotionally drained places. I find Evert character extremely jovial to be with including the Hendrick’s lively traits. While aging, knowing the limitations yet living the moment shows, how to perceive life with just a leap of faith in the existence and sustenance. This club has stolen my heart and took me to nostalgic moments with my grandparents. I will deeply miss the adventure trips of Hendrick on the mobility scooter.
